In short
Shortlisted NTPC UG candidates must choose English or Hindi for the typing test by 18 November 2026, or English is set by default. PwBD candidates can upload a typing test exemption certificate till 25 November.
If you've been shortlisted for the NTPC UG typing test (CEN 07/2025), there's one thing to do now: choose whether you'll type in English or Hindi. RRB's notice of 4 November 2026 opens the option from 5 pm that day, and you have until 18 November, 11:55 pm. The PDF is linked below.
If you don't choose by then, you'll be put down for English. And once you submit, you can't change it, so think it over before you click.
Picking the language
The link is in the notice, and you'll also find it on the RRB website: qa-efmprd.digialm.com. Log in with your usual credentials and open the "Language for CBTST" tab. Click the plus (+) icon, pick English or Hindi, and press Submit. Take a screenshot once it's saved.
If you go for Hindi, RRB says you must know how to type in the Krutidev or Mangal font. If you've only typed Hindi on a phone, or with a tool that changes English letters into Hindi, don't pick Hindi now. Choose the language you can actually type fast on a real keyboard. Remember you need 30 words a minute in English or 25 in Hindi to pass.
If you have a disability exemption
Under para 13.3 of the CEN, PwBD candidates with blindness or low vision, cerebral palsy or locomotor disability, at 40% or more permanent disability, can be exempted from the typing test. You need a typing test exemption certificate from a Medical Board set up by the Central or State Government, in the Annexure V(H) format given in the CEN.
You upload it through the same portal, but under a different tab. Go to "Helpdesk", then "Raise Query Ticket". Choose "Typing Skill Test" as the problem category and "Upload Exemption Certificate" as the problem type, then upload the file. It has to be a JPG or PDF, no bigger than 5 MB. The upload window runs till 25 November, 11:55 pm.
If you can't upload it in time, you can take the original certificate to your typing test centre and ask for the exemption there. Either way, keep the original safe. You'll have to show the same certificate at document verification, and if you can't, your candidature will be rejected.
On the test day
Aadhaar-linked biometric checks will be done before you enter the exam hall, so carry your original Aadhaar card.
Go only by the official RRB website for updates, and stay away from anyone who promises you a job for money. Selection is on CBT merit and nothing else.
