In short
RRBs have published the tentative dates for the NTPC Under Graduate typing skill test under CEN 07/2025. It only applies if you were shortlisted for a typist post.
The Railway Recruitment Boards put out a notice on 2 November 2026 with the tentative schedule for the computer-based typing skill test (CBTST) under CEN 07/2025, NTPC Under Graduate. The notice is in English and Hindi and covers candidates of all RRBs. The dates themselves are in the PDF linked on this page.
Do I have to take it?
Only if you were shortlisted for the CBTST after CBT 2 and you opted for a post that needs typing, such as Junior Clerk cum Typist or Accounts Clerk cum Typist. If none of your chosen posts involve typing, you can ignore this schedule.
Does it affect my rank?
No. The typing test is qualifying only, so your typing marks are not added to your merit score. But you have to pass it to stay in the running for the typing posts.
What speed do I need?
You type in the language you picked in your application. The usual standard for NTPC typist posts is 30 words a minute in English or 25 in Hindi, on a computer and without spell-check. Check the notice in case anything has changed this time.
Are these dates final?
Not yet. The schedule is marked tentative, and your exact date, shift and centre will only be confirmed on your e-call letter. The city intimation slip normally comes out a few days before that.
Any advice?
Practise on an actual computer keyboard, ideally the kind with full-size keys. If most of your typing these days is on a phone, your speed on a keyboard may be lower than you expect, and a couple of weeks of daily practice makes a real difference.
