In short

RRB has 1,688 NTPC Under Graduate posts for 12th pass candidates aged 18 to 30, with applications closing on 13 November 2026. The typing test for the clerk-typist posts has been dropped this time.

If you've passed 12th and you're between 18 and 30, this one is for you. RRB's NTPC Under Graduate notification, CEN 07/2026, has 1,688 posts across all 21 RRBs, and applications close on 13 November 2026 at 11:59 pm. Don't wait for the last two days. The site gets slow when everyone rushes in at the end.

There are four posts. Commercial cum Ticket Clerk has the most, 700, and it's also the only Level 3 post, starting at ₹21,700. Junior Clerk cum Typist has 600, Accounts Clerk cum Typist 200 and Trains Clerk 188, all at Level 2 with a starting pay of ₹19,900.

You need 12th with at least 50% marks. That 50% condition doesn't apply if you're SC/ST, PwBD or an ex-serviceman, or if you've studied beyond 12th. The age is counted on 1 January 2027, with the usual relaxation for OBC, SC/ST and others.

No typing test this time

For the two typist posts, RRB has dropped the typing test altogether. It's just CBT 1, CBT 2, document verification and the medical. But don't stop practising typing. RRB says it will still check your typing after you join, and if it's weak, your confirmation or promotion can be held up.

Think before you pick your RRB

Kolkata has by far the most posts, 329. After that come Chennai with 168, Prayagraj with 149, Mumbai with 140 and Ajmer with 124. Muzaffarpur has just 7, and Secunderabad has 72.

It's tempting to go where the numbers are, but think about where you actually want to work. You can apply to one RRB only, you can't change it later, and once you join, a transfer request to another railway won't even be registered for 5 to 10 years.

Trains Clerk needs good eyesight

Trains Clerk comes with medical standard A-3, the toughest one in this notification. You need 6/9 vision in each eye, glasses no stronger than 2D, and you have to pass colour, binocular and night vision tests. If you've had LASIK or any other eye surgery, you can't get this post. And if you fail the medical, RRB won't move you to a different post, so be honest with yourself before you opt for it. Most of these posts, 69 out of 188, are with RRB Ranchi for East Central Railway.

The other three posts have easier standards, and LASIK is allowed for them under some conditions.

Fee

It's ₹500, and you get ₹400 back once you sit CBT 1. If you're a woman, SC/ST, ex-serviceman, PwBD, transgender, from a minority community or EBC, you pay ₹250 and get all of it back. Pay by 15 November. If you need to fix something in your form, the correction window is open from 16 to 25 November, at ₹250 each time. CBT dates haven't been announced yet.

The RRB-wise vacancy table, syllabus and step-by-step application guide are on the recruitment page. Apply only through the official RRB website, and if anyone offers to get you a railway job for money, walk away.
