In short
Isolated Categories candidates under CEN 08/2025 declared unfit or placed in a lower medical category by RRB Mumbai can appeal for a re-medical. The appeal, with a specialist certificate and a Rs 1,000 DD, must reach RRB Mumbai by Speed Post within one month.
RRB Mumbai has issued a notice for Isolated Categories candidates under CEN 08/2025 who were declared medically unfit at the medical after DV. It also covers anyone passed only in a lower medical category than their post needs. If that's you, you can appeal for a re-medical. The notice went up on 6 November 2026, and the PDF is linked below. It has the procedure plus the two forms you need, Annexure-A and Annexure-B.
These medicals were held at Western Railway and Central Railway health units, so the appeal goes to the Principal Chief Medical Director (PCMD) of Central or Western Railway. You send it through the Chairman, RRB Mumbai.
The deadline is one month, and it has to reach them
Your complete appeal must reach the RRB Mumbai office within one month of the result being published. Posting it within the month isn't enough. The notice doesn't print a fixed last date. If you count from 6 November, when this notice went up, a month runs to about 6 December. Don't leave it that late, because Speed Post can take a few days.
RRB also says it won't contact unfit or lower-category candidates individually about this. Nobody will remind you, so start now.
Who can't appeal
If you attended DV and then deliberately skipped or walked out of the medical, you can't appeal. The route is only for people who took the medical and got an unfit or lower-category result.
What goes in the envelope
Three things, and RRB will only consider the appeal if all three are there.
The first is Annexure-B, your appeal letter. Use the specimen in the PDF as the model, but write it out by hand and sign it. It asks for your roll number, registered mobile and email, your DV date and post, the hospital and date of your medical, the medical standard you were tested for, and the standard you were declared unfit in. It also needs your DD number, date and bank.
The second is Annexure-A, a certificate from a specialist. It has to come from a government or private doctor in the specialty where you were found unfit. For example, it should be an eye specialist if it was your vision. The doctor records your current findings against the railway standard for your post. They also have to state that they know the railway's physical and visual standards and that a railway medical board has already declared you unfit. Your photo goes on the form, attested by the doctor, with your identification marks and the doctor's MCI or state registration number. Check the doctor has filled in every line before you leave the clinic.
The third is a demand draft for Rs 1,000 in favour of Sr.DFM/Western Railway, Mumbai-400008. Get the payee name exactly right.
Send it by Speed Post only, addressed to The Chairman, Railway Recruitment Board, Divisional Office Compound, Mumbai Central, Mumbai 400 008. Keep a photocopy of everything and the Speed Post receipt.
What happens after you appeal
If the PCMD thinks your case needs another look, a medical board will be set up to re-examine you. The decision will come to you through RRB Mumbai. If you're declared fit this time, you get the Rs 1,000 back. If not, the money is gone.
This is your only second chance. After this appeal, there's no further medical, so get the specialist certificate right the first time and make sure it covers exactly the condition you failed on.
Watch the RRB Mumbai page on rrb.indianrailways.gov.in for the re-medical schedule. Ignore anyone who says they can get your medical result changed for money. Selection is on merit only.
